Lixia Pavilion stands as one of Jinans most iconic historical landmarks located in the city center near Daming Lake This magnificent pavilion dates back to the Northern Wei Dynasty around 1,500 years ago and has been rebuilt multiple times throughout Chinese history The name Lixia literally means Below Mount Li referring to its position at the foot of the legendary Mount Li where the legendary Emperor Shun once farmed The current structure built during the Qing Dynasty features traditional Chinese architecture with upturned eaves intricate wood carvings and a commanding view of the surrounding area The pavilion has been celebrated by poets and scholars throughout Chinese history including the famous Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu who wrote about its beauty
