Huaqing Palace, also known as Huaqing Pool, is one of China's most famous historical sites located at the northern foot of Mount Li in Lintong District, Xi'an. With a history spanning over 3000 years, this site served as an imperial hot spring palace for multiple dynasties, most notably during the Tang Dynasty when Emperor Xuanzong built luxurious palaces here for his beloved concubine Yang Guifei. The site combines natural hot springs with exquisite Tang Dynasty architecture, creating a romantic and historical atmosphere that has inspired countless poems and stories throughout Chinese history. The complex includes the original hot spring pools, palace ruins, gardens, and the famous Flying Rainbow Bridge. The site gained additional historical significance as the location of the Xi'an Incident in 1936, when Chiang Kai-shek was detained here. Today, visitors can explore the beautifully restored Tang-style buildings, soak in the same hot springs used by emperors, and enjoy stunning views of Mount Li while learning about China's rich imperial history.
