Mount Hua also known as Huashan is located about 120 kilometers east of Xi'an in Shaanxi province. As one of China's Five Great Mountains it has been a place of religious significance for over 2000 years particularly in Taoism. The mountain features five main peaks with the South Peak being the highest at 2154.9 meters. Mount Hua is famous for its dramatic granite cliffs narrow pathways and breathtaking views. The most famous section is the Plank Walk in the Sky a terrifying cliffside path that tests visitors courage. The mountain offers various hiking routes from the relatively easy cable car access to the challenging traditional stone steps that have been climbed by pilgrims for centuries. The sunrise view from the East Peak is particularly spectacular making overnight stays popular among adventurous travelers.
