Mount Hua also known as Hua Shan is located about 120 kilometers east of Xi'an in Shaanxi province. As one of China's Five Great Mountains it holds immense cultural and religious significance particularly in Taoism. The mountain features five main peaks with the South Peak being the highest at 2154.9 meters above sea level. Mount Hua is famous for its dramatic granite cliffs steep staircases carved into the rock face and the legendary Plank Walk in the Sky which offers one of the most thrilling hiking experiences in the world. The mountain has been a place of pilgrimage for over 2000 years with numerous Taoist temples monasteries and cultural relics scattered throughout its slopes.
