The Temple of the Six Banyan Trees is one of Guangzhous most iconic Buddhist temples with a history spanning over 1400 years. Originally built during the Liang Dynasty, the temple gets its name from the six ancient banyan trees planted by the famous poet Su Dongpo during the Song Dynasty. The centerpiece of the temple is the stunning Flower Pagoda, a 57-meter-tall octagonal structure that appears to have nine stories from the outside but actually contains 17 levels inside. This architectural marvel combines elements from different dynasties and offers panoramic views of Guangzhou from its top. The temple complex houses numerous precious Buddhist relics, ancient statues, and cultural artifacts that reflect the rich spiritual heritage of Southern China.
