About Baotu Spring Park

Baotu Spring Park is the most famous spring in Jinan known as the Spring City of China. Located in the heart of Jinan, it is one of the three major scenic spots in the city along with Daming Lake and Thousand Buddha Mountain. The park covers an area of 158 acres and features more than 30 famous springs including Baotu Spring, the most spectacular of them all.

Baotu Spring has been celebrated for over 2,600 years with historical records dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period. The spring water gushes out from three main outlets with tremendous force, creating a magnificent spectacle that has inspired poets and emperors throughout Chinese history. The water temperature remains constant at around 18°C (64°F) throughout the year, never freezing in winter nor drying up in summer.

The park combines natural beauty with cultural heritage, featuring traditional Chinese gardens, pavilions, bridges, and historical buildings that reflect the rich cultural history of Shandong Province.

Four Gate Pagoda

The Four Gate Pagoda is a remarkable architectural treasure located at the foot of Mount Li in Jinan Shandong Province. Built during the Sui Dynasty around 581-618 AD this ancient stone pagoda stands as the oldest surviving pagoda in China and represents a significant milestone in Chinese Buddhist architecture. The pagoda gets its name from the four arched doorways that face the cardinal directions each leading to a central pillar carved with Buddhist statues. The pagoda has survived numerous historical events including wars and natural disasters making it a testament to Chinese cultural resilience. Today it stands as a protected national cultural relic and a must-see destination for anyone interested in Chinese history Buddhism and ancient architecture.
