French Concession

The French Concession is one of Shanghai's most charming and historically significant areas, established as a French settlement from 1849 to 1946. This picturesque neighborhood preserves the architectural legacy of Shanghai's colonial era while blending seamlessly with modern urban life. Spanning approximately 10 square kilometers, it features wide tree-lined boulevards, elegant European-style villas, art deco apartment buildings, and hidden lane houses known as shikumen.
