About Jade Buddha Temple
Jade Buddha Temple was founded in 1882 to house two jade Buddha statues brought from Myanmar by a monk named Huigen. The main halls follow a classical Song-dynasty style, while the temple's treasures sit in the Jade Buddha Chamber on the upper floor. The reclining jade Buddha in the western hall is another highlight. The temple remains one of Shanghai's most active Buddhist centers.
