About Song Qingling Residence

The Song Qingling Residence is the former home of Soong Ching-ling, wife of Sun Yat-sen and honorary chairwoman of the People's Republic. She lived here from 1948 until her death in 1981, and the rooms retain her furniture, books, and gifts from foreign dignitaries. The white villa and its plane-tree garden sit on a quiet lane off Huaihai Road. The garden is shaded by an ancient camphor tree she loved.
